Egypt Calls for Unrestricted Aid to Gaza, Backs ‘Phase Two’ of Trump Plan

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has urged the swift delivery of unrestricted humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and emphasized the necessity of implementing the second phase of the Trump plan concerning arrangements for Gaza. Qatar has also expressed concerns over violations of the ceasefire agreement.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty stated the hope that humanitarian aid would flow into the Gaza Strip without limitations and in greater volumes to meet the urgent needs of the people.

Abdel-Aty further emphasized the need to solidify the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. He stated that the second phase of the Trump plan regarding arrangements for Gaza should be implemented as quickly as possible.

Earlier, Majed Al-Ansari, spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported the continuation of Doha’s mediation efforts to maintain the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. He emphasized that the violations recorded during this period are “worrying” and could negatively affect the sustainability of the agreement.

He said that Qatar is “continuously” monitoring the field situation and the extent to which the parties adhere to the agreement, and is working to prevent the collapse of the current ceasefire.

He added that any violation of the ceasefire is a threat to it and undermines its effects; however, this period is still the longest ceasefire despite the violations.

The spokesman of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to the role of the United States and other mediators, stated: We have confidence in the plan presented by the President of the United States and the active role of the mediators in this process.

He also emphasized that Doha’s main goal is to turn the current ceasefire into a sustainable path that allows reaching the second phase of the agreement; a phase that includes broader steps to stabilize the de-escalation and advance the negotiations.
