Iraqi Presidency Denies Knowledge of Designating Hezbollah, Ansarallah as Terrorist Groups

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Iraqi Presidency has denied any prior knowledge or consent regarding decisions to label Hezbollah and Ansarallah as terrorist groups and to seize their assets. The Iraqi institution stated that such decisions are not submitted to the presidency for approval. Legislation passed by the Council of Representatives and presidential decrees are sent for review, approval, and publication.
The Presidency clarified that resolutions from the Council of Ministers, the Committee for Blocking Terrorists’ Assets, the Anti-Money Laundering Committee, and directives from other entities are not routinely sent to the President’s office.
The Iraqi Presidency further stated that it had no information about the decision to designate Ansarallah and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations and freeze their assets, learning of the decision only through social media. This statement follows an earlier denial from the Committee for Blocking Terrorists’ Assets at the Central Bank of Iraq, which refuted reports of asset seizures targeting Hezbollah and Ansarallah.
