Security Council Addresses Gaza Infant Death, West Bank Violence

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Security Council convened to discuss the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the West Bank, focusing on the human cost of ongoing conflicts.
Akbarov, during the session, reported that Israeli military operations in the West Bank have resulted in numerous Palestinian casualties, widespread displacement, and extensive destruction, particularly in refugee camps. He emphasized that the continued presence of occupying forces contradicts international commitments to end the illegal occupation.
Akbarov also condemned the frequent and violent attacks by Zionist settlers, noting that these actions often occur with the presence or support of the security forces of the Zionist regime, especially during the olive harvest season. He called for preventing these attacks, punishing the perpetrators, and ensuring Palestinian farmers’ safe access to their lands.
Regarding Gaza, Akbarov highlighted the death of a two-week-old infant in Khan Yunis due to the cold, marking the first confirmed death resulting from the drop in temperature in the area. He described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “catastrophic” and stressed the need to expand humanitarian activities and facilitate the entry of aid.
Akbarov pointed out that Gaza’s infrastructure has been severely damaged and that the entry of humanitarian aid continues to face support and security restrictions. He urged all parties to allow aid to enter Gaza without obstruction.
Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist regime, with the full support of America and Europe, has carried out extensive and devastating attacks against Gaza, resulting in over 239,000 deaths and injuries, mainly women and children, according to Palestinian sources, with thousands missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, many have died due to famine, and vast areas of Gaza have been completely destroyed.
