Lavrov: Russia Doesn’t Need Europe in Relations with US

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that Russia does not require Europe as a third party in its relations with the United States. He also addressed concerns about security guarantees for Kyiv and the potential for military escalation in Ukraine.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced during a press conference with his Egyptian counterpart on Friday that Russia does not need Europe in its relations with the United States, given Europe’s current stances.

Lavrov emphasized that Russia expects the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, to adhere to the IAEA’s regulations in his evaluations regarding Iran.

Regarding European consultations, Lavrov stated that Russia has not received any information regarding the outcomes of Europe’s consultations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the representative of President Donald Trump. He expressed concern about the European Union’s security guarantees for Kyiv, stressing the importance of collective security assurances.

Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s desire for indivisible security that prevents any attempts to pursue a military path. He also commented on French President Emmanuel Macron’s willingness to engage in dialogue, stating that President Vladimir Putin is equally prepared.

Finally, Lavrov criticized the idea of deploying multinational forces under European command in Ukraine, calling it a provocative attempt to seize Ukrainian territory and a threat against Russia.
