US Strikes Over 70 ISIS Targets in Syria
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US fighter jets have carried out numerous airstrikes against ISIS targets in Syria since early morning. Fox News first reported the extensive aerial campaign.
Simultaneously, Syrian state media, Al-Ikhbariya, citing local sources, reported that the international coalition warplanes launched attacks in the Badiyah of Maadan in the Raqqa countryside, the Badiyah of al-Hamad in the Deir Ezzor countryside, and the heights of Jabal al-Amour. According to these sources, the strikes primarily targeted weapons depots and headquarters used as ISIS operational bases in the area.
Local sources have also reported ongoing attacks in the Badiyah of Deir Ezzor, with the sound of powerful explosions heard in the city and surrounding villages. Furthermore, widespread flights of American fighter jets and reconnaissance drones have been observed over the Badiyah of Homs, indicating continued military operations deep within the Syrian desert regions.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Saturday the start of Operation ‘Eagle Eye’ in Syria, an operation he claims is aimed at ‘revenge’ for the recent attack in Palmyra. In a threatening statement, he said: ‘This is not the beginning of a war, it is a declaration of revenge. America, under the leadership of President Trump, will not hesitate to defend its people.’
US Central Command also announced in a statement the start of a ‘broad operation against ISIS infrastructure and weapons centers in Syria.’
Regional analysts emphasize that the repeated US attacks in the Syrian desert regions, coinciding with suspicious movements by the ISIS terrorist group, once again raise questions about Washington’s true goals in eastern Syria, especially given that the US military presence in the country is described by Damascus as ‘illegal and occupying’.
