Netanyahu and Trump Administration Clash Over Syria Sanctions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempted to prevent the partial lifting of sanctions against Syria, intending to use them as leverage in future negotiations. However, the Trump administration opposed the move and instead pledged to offer Israel an alternative concession, though it remains unclear whether this will involve political or military incentives.
The U.S. House of Representatives recently agreed to suspend the implementation of the Caesar Act, a 2019 law imposing sanctions on Syria. Since the failed overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s government and the rise of the Julani-led faction, Syria has remained embroiled in armed conflicts and internal violence. Additionally, Israeli airstrikes on various Syrian regions continue unabated, leaving the country effectively divided among domestic and foreign factions.
