Yemen’s Strategic Surprises Reshape Regional Power Balance Amid Ongoing Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yemen, as the second front of the Axis of Resistance following Hezbollah’s involvement in the Al-Aqsa Storm battle in October 2023, has achieved a significant geostrategic transformation through its operations. These efforts, especially in maritime confrontations, have altered the regional power balance and established Yemen as an international actor capable of influencing global trade routes.
Major General Mujib Shamsan, a Yemeni military and strategic expert aligned with Sana’a, stated in an interview with Al-Ahd that Yemen’s actions have reduced U.S. presence in the Red Sea and demonstrated its control over energy resources and maritime transit. He emphasized that after the failure of five U.S. aircraft carriers to break Yemen’s blockade on Israel or protect it from Yemeni operations, the U.S. has lost its deterrence capability and shifted from an offensive to a defensive stance.
Shamsan highlighted Yemen’s rapid military advancements, including the development of ballistic and cruise missiles capable of reaching targets across the Indian Ocean and three seas. Yemeni drones have also successfully penetrated advanced U.S. and Israeli defense systems, striking vital targets deep within occupied Palestine.
The expert warned of further surprises Yemen has prepared for both allies and adversaries, stressing that the conflict is far from over. Yemen’s armed forces continue to enhance their military capabilities based on field assessments to address current challenges and support the Palestinian cause.
These remarks follow recent escalations by the U.S. and Israel, who have allegedly increased covert and overt efforts to destabilize Yemen through proxies like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, threatening to reignite the war. Sana’a officials have repeatedly warned against any threats to Yemen’s security, asserting full readiness to counter enemy provocations and conspiracies.
