Hungary’s Orban Warns of Looming War Threat in Europe Amid Ukraine Crisis

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has warned that Europe faces a persistent threat of war with Russia despite the continent heading toward a peaceful Christmas. Speaking on the ongoing Ukraine crisis, Orban emphasized that discussions about potential conflict continue behind closed doors.
Orban criticized the EU’s approval of a €90 billion aid package for Ukraine, interpreting it as a sign of Europe preparing for war. He argued that such financial support escalates tensions and heightens the risk of direct confrontation with Russia, noting that the Hungarian public remains unaware of how close the region is to conflict.
The Prime Minister highlighted deepening divisions within NATO, stating that while the U.S. favors a peaceful resolution to the crisis, European allies are pushing for continued military engagement. Orban asserted that most Europeans oppose war but accused vested interests profiting from defense contracts of influencing politicians to prolong the conflict.
