Israel’s Plan to Relocate Gaza Residents to Somaliland Sparks Regional and International Backlash

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israel has recognized Somaliland and signed an agreement to establish full diplomatic relations, including the exchange of ambassadors and opening embassies. The move, reported by Israel’s Channel 12, is allegedly part of a plan to forcibly relocate residents of the Gaza Strip to the breakaway region of Somaliland.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced the diplomatic agreement on Friday, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited Somaliland’s separatist leader, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, to visit the occupied territories via a conference call.
Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but has not been recognized by any United Nations member state. The separatists control the northern part of Somalia.
The reported relocation plan has triggered strong opposition from regional and international actors, who view it as a controversial and destabilizing move.
