Tunisia Extends State of Emergency for Another Month Until January 2026

Tunisian President Kais Saied has extended the nationwide state of emergency for an additional month, granting authorities expanded powers until the end of January 2026.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Tunisian President Kais Saied issued a decree on Tuesday extending the country’s state of emergency for another month until the end of January 2026. The measure, originally imposed on November 24, 2015 following a terrorist attack, has been renewed multiple times since its initial declaration.

The extended state of emergency grants Tunisian officials broad authority to impose curfews, restrict public gatherings, monitor media outlets, and conduct searches without prior judicial approval. These emergency powers have remained in effect for over eight years as the North African nation continues to address security challenges.
