Syria Reportedly Open to Israeli Liaison Office in Damascus Under Certain Conditions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syrian sources close to the issue have indicated that Damascus does not object to the opening of an Israeli liaison office in the Syrian capital, on the condition that it is not designated as a diplomatic mission. The report, originally cited by Zionist regime media, highlights a potential shift in Syria’s stance toward engagement with Israel under U.S.-mediated proposals.
The sources, reportedly aligned with Syrian figures such as Joulani, revealed that Syria has agreed to a U.S. proposal to enhance Syria-U.S. relations, including the creation of a joint military-security operations room aimed at ensuring stability in southern Syria and disarming lawless militias. This development comes amid ongoing discussions about regional security dynamics.
Additionally, the sources disclosed that Israel has urgently requested the U.S. to delay a security agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) until a separate security deal with Damascus is finalized. There are concerns that Tel Aviv may exploit existing tensions between Damascus and factions like the SDF and Druze in Al-Suwayda during its negotiations with the Syrian government.
