Luxembourg Tops EU Minimum Wage Rankings for 2026

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, updated European minimum wage statistics for 2026 show 22 of 27 EU member states now enforce national wage floors, with Denmark, Italy, Austria, Finland, and Sweden remaining exempt. The report exposes stark contrasts, where Luxembourg’s €2,704 monthly minimum dwarfs Bulgaria’s €620 – a 4.4-fold difference before purchasing power adjustments.
Eight nations fall below the €1,000 threshold, including Latvia (€780), Romania (€795), and Estonia (€886). Mid-tier economies like Spain (€1,381) and Poland (€1,139) cluster between €1,000-1,500, while Germany (€2,343) and Ireland (€2,391) join Luxembourg in the elite €1,500+ bracket.
When adjusted to Purchasing Power Standards (PPS), the gap narrows to 2.4:1, with Germany’s 2,157 PPS units outpacing Estonia’s 886. Eurostat notes Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic crossed the 1,000 PPS threshold since 2025, signaling gradual convergence.
