U.S. Envoy Hails Trilateral Abu Dhabi Talks as Constructive Amid Ukraine Crisis

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkauf has characterized the recent trilateral talks involving Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi as extensive and productive. He confirmed that discussions will resume in the coming weeks, with further progress expected toward resolving the Ukraine crisis.
Witkauf highlighted the agreement on the exchange of 314 prisoners during the meeting but stressed that significant work remains regarding Ukraine negotiations. The second round of trilateral peace talks for Ukraine took place on Wednesday and Thursday in Abu Dhabi, following an earlier working-level meeting in the same city attended by representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S.
Media reports indicate that the U.S. proposal includes stabilizing contact lines, determining the status of eastern Ukrainian regions, reducing Ukraine’s military capabilities, and prohibiting the deployment of foreign forces. The Kremlin has previously stated that resolving territorial disputes and the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbas are essential conditions for lasting peace.
