Former Shin Bet Chiefs Accuse Netanyahu of Evading Responsibility for Security Failures

Five former heads of the Israeli internal security service, Shin Bet, along with 31 former directors, sent an unprecedented letter accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of undermining the agency’s standing to evade blame for the security failures following the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ operation.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, five former heads of the Israeli internal security service, known as Shin Bet (Shabak), and 31 former agency directors jointly issued an unprecedented letter addressed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The letter accuses Netanyahu of damaging the credibility of Shin Bet as a deliberate tactic to evade responsibility for the significant security failures that occurred during the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ operation.

The former security officials sharply criticized the escalating attacks directed at Ronen Bar, a former Shin Bet head, by Netanyahu’s close associates and members of the ruling coalition within the occupied territories. This criticism forms a central part of the former directors’ concerns regarding the political maneuvering following the conflict.

Furthermore, the signatories condemned a 55-page document recently submitted by Netanyahu to the State Comptroller of the Israeli regime. They asserted that this document was specifically compiled with the intention of shirking accountability for the operational failures during the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ and shifting the blame onto others within the security apparatus.

The correspondence explicitly stated that numerous individuals, including Ronen Bar, resigned in the aftermath of the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ operation. However, the letter concluded by asserting that Netanyahu is the sole individual attempting to evade the burden of responsibility for the strategic defeat.
