Iraq Confirms Transfer of Over 5,700 ISIS Terrorists from Syria

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Justice confirmed the transfer of 5,703 ISIS terrorists from Syria into Iraq. Ahmed Laibi, the spokesperson, specified that these individuals hail from 61 countries globally, comprising 4,253 Arabs and 983 non-Arabs.
Laibi further detailed the composition of the transferred fighters, noting that 467 are Iraqi nationals while 3,543 are Syrian citizens. In response to the influx, specialized halls have been prepared within the Al-Karkh Central Prison to categorize the terrorists based on intelligence provided by members of the international coalition, which includes Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, India, Australia, Belgium, Georgia, and Denmark.
The Ministry of Justice spokesperson also released figures regarding transfers from specific nations. Among these were 187 individuals from Morocco, 165 from Turkmenistan, 181 from Turkey, 234 from Tunisia, 130 from Russia, and 116 from Egypt.
Laibi emphasized that Iraq’s National Security Council, acting upon the request of the international coalition, has decided to receive these terrorists. The handover process is being managed through the Counter-Terrorism Organization at the ‘Mohammed Alaa’ Martyrs Airbase and the Joint Operations Command via the Rabi’a border crossing. Furthermore, a committee comprising officials from the country’s Intelligence Service, Directorate of Intelligence, and the National Security Apparatus has been formed to oversee the matter, with judicial committees assigned the responsibility for issuing verdicts.
