Indonesia Warns Gaza Deployment Could End If Mission Deviates From Jakarta’s Stance

Jakarta has declared that its participation in the proposed ‘International Stabilization Force’ in Gaza will be immediately terminated if the mandate deviates from Indonesia’s established policies regarding the Palestinian issue. The country insists its troops will remain strictly confined to humanitarian and protective roles.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Indonesia has issued a strong stipulation regarding its potential involvement in a multinational security contingent for the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that its contribution is contingent upon strict adherence to Jakarta’s national parameters for the Palestinian cause.

The Southeast Asian nation stated that it would withdraw its security personnel from the Gaza deployment at any time if the mission’s responsibilities are found to be inconsistent with Jakarta’s established policies concerning Palestine. Indonesia has pledged that the mandate for its soldiers would be strictly limited to humanitarian duties, including civilian protection, the provision of aid, reconstruction efforts, or the training of Palestinian police forces.

Furthermore, Indonesia stressed that it would only dispatch its forces with the explicit consent of Palestinian authorities. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed this conditional engagement in a public statement. “We reserve the right to terminate this mission at any time. Should the assigned duties for the ‘International Stabilization Force’ diverge from the benchmarks we pursue nationally or conflict with Indonesia’s foreign policy, Jakarta will cease its participation in this group,” the statement read.

The government clarified the rules of engagement for its personnel: “Our forces will not engage in combat or confrontation with any armed groups. Jakarta is committed to using force only in self-defense and as a final recourse.”

In reinforcing its core position, the official press release confirmed that Indonesia reiterated its firm stance against “any attempt to change the demographic structure, forced displacement, or relocation of Palestinians in any form.” Nabilah Machrudi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented to the Jakarta Globe, stating that Indonesia’s presence within the peacekeeping structure should not be misconstrued as the normalization of political relations with any party or the legitimization of any specific political policy.
