US Urges China to Join New START Treaty, Eyes Multilateral Pact

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, has stated that the U.S. desires the inclusion of China along with Russia in a revised version of the New START treaty. He indicated the possibility of other countries joining the document to evolve it into a multilateral agreement.
Previously, the U.S. Department of State had asserted in a statement that the United States would resume its nuclear tests equally with Russia and China. Furthermore, the department claimed that President Donald Trump had offered China strategic negotiations to achieve stability and prevent an arms race.
In a statement issued by the U.S. Department of State, it was alleged that Washington would not conduct megaton-scale atmospheric explosions and that Trump desires a world with fewer nuclear weapons. The end of the New START treaty could herald a new era of strategic stability.
Washington also claimed to have no information regarding any potential agreement with the Russian side following the expiration of the New START treaty. This comes despite Russia’s long-standing calls for consultations regarding the expiration of the New START treaty’s deadline with the United States, a request Washington has consistently evaded with various pretexts.
