Vatican Rejects Trump’s Peace Council Plan, Highlighting Disagreements with Italy

The Vatican has announced it will not join Donald Trump’s proposed peace council for the Gaza Strip, signaling significant differences with Italy and other European nations regarding international conflict resolution mechanisms.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Vatican has declared its refusal to join the peace council initiative proposed by Donald Trump for the Gaza Strip. This decision stands in stark contrast to the Italian government’s support for the plan, underscoring considerable disagreements between the Vatican and Italy, as well as other European countries.

The Vatican emphasized that the pivotal role of the United Nations in resolving international crises should not be marginalized. It asserted that any peace efforts must operate within the framework of established international institutions, a stance consistent with diplomatic principles and international law.

Previously, other European nations, including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, had also voiced opposition to joining Trump’s peace council. These widespread rejections indicate a lack of international consensus on unilateral approaches to peace initiatives by the United States.

Despite Donald Trump’s claims of striving for peace in the Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks on the territory persist, even following an ceasefire agreement between Tel Aviv and Hamas. This ongoing situation suggests that proposed American plans may lack the necessary enforcement mechanisms for establishing lasting peace.
