Afghanistan Claims End to Border Clashes with Pakistan, Reports Heavy Pakistani Casualties

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense announced the cessation of military operations against Pakistan, claiming substantial casualties among Pakistani soldiers and the capture of several border posts in retaliation for Pakistani airstrikes.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Afghanistan‘s Ministry of Defense has declared the conclusion of military operations against Pakistan. The actions were initiated in response to Pakistani airstrikes, with the Afghan ministry asserting that 55 Pakistani army soldiers were killed and multiple border posts were seized.

During these engagements, eight Afghan forces members lost their lives, and eleven others sustained injuries. Additionally, thirteen individuals were wounded in the Nangarhar province.

Conversely, Pakistani authorities announced the commencement of a special operation, codenamed “Ghazab-ul-Haq,” in retaliation for Taliban attacks, claiming that at least 30 Afghan border guards were killed.

Musharraf Zaidi, spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Pakistan, refuted Afghanistan’s claims of Pakistani posts being captured or damaged. He emphasized that Pakistani forces inflicted significant damage on Afghan border positions.

He further stated that no Pakistani soldiers were taken prisoner and no casualties occurred on the Pakistani side, dismissing any claims of damage to Pakistan as “hallucinations.” Pakistani security sources also reported thwarting an unsuccessful Taliban attempt to attack posts using quadcopters.

Previously, the spokesperson for the caretaker government of Afghanistan had alleged heavy casualties on the Pakistani side of the border and the capture of some Pakistani soldiers by Taliban border guards.

The borders between Pakistan and Afghanistan have recently experienced escalating tensions, with the two neighboring nations in a military standoff for several days.

Pakistan accuses the caretaker government of Afghanistan of leniency towards terrorist elements and collusion with India to destabilize Pakistan. However, both Kabul and New Delhi deny these accusations, stressing Pakistan’s need to resolve its internal issues.
