Lebanese Parliament Speaker Outlines Conditions for Negotiations with Occupying Regime

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told the newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that any negotiation with the occupying regime is conditional on the realization of two conditions: first, an immediate and permanent halt to the conflict, and second, the safe and dignified return of refugees.
Berri, while emphasizing his firm opposition to delving into the specifics of any negotiation before its time, stressed the necessity of achieving a genuine ceasefire followed by a political action.
He expressed his opposition to direct negotiations between Lebanon and the occupying Israeli regime concurrently with a cessation of hostilities, asserting that the priority should be the establishment of a ceasefire and adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701 to end the aggression.
Despite expressing a positive stance on the efforts of Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Nabih Berri excluded the issue of “dual Shiite representation” from any negotiating delegation, deferring a decision on it to the period after a ceasefire is established.
