Former UK Foreign Secretary Straw Criticizes Trump’s Iran Strategy, Cites Netanyahu’s Influence

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw has stated that the United States’ strategy regarding Iran was deeply flawed. Straw asserted that former President Donald Trump‘s actions and communication during the period of aggression against Iran, which he described as contrary to international laws and the UN Charter, signaled a disregard for international norms.
Straw further elaborated that Trump’s approach to initiating conflict with a nation as significant as Iran, possessing extensive defensive capabilities, lacked clear strategic explanation. “I have gained no clarity on this,” Straw remarked.
The former UK Foreign Secretary highlighted that it was evident Donald Trump, the U.S. President at the time, showed no interest in varying responses from Iran and had aligned his timeline with that of Netanyahu. “Trump has no understanding or assessment of the past and future, and only sees as far as his nose; this is very concerning,” Straw stated.
He acknowledged that Netanyahu’s strategy aimed to destabilize Tehran to the point of regime collapse. “My feeling is that the Iranian government will not collapse,” Straw said. “The important point is that the majority of Iranians possess strong patriotic pride for their land, but unfortunately, Trump does not understand or grasp this issue at all.”
