Oman Considering Hormuz Strait Transit Fee Plan Amid US Pressure

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Javier Blas, a columnist for Bloomberg, indicated via social media that Oman appears to be seriously considering joining Iran in implementing a “toll” or “transit fee” system for the Strait of Hormuz. This consideration comes amidst direct threats from the White House and the U.S. Treasury Department.
Earlier, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bennett issued a stern statement asserting that the U.S. government would not tolerate any attempts to impose tariffs on the Strait of Hormuz. He specifically warned Oman that the U.S. Treasury would target any party involved, directly or indirectly, in such an action.
Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open to all, asserting that the United States guarantees its security. Trump added that the openness of the Strait of Hormuz is part of ongoing negotiations with Iran.
Trump also issued a warning regarding Oman’s role in this matter, stating that Oman would be treated like any other country, implying severe consequences if it did not comply.
