France Prioritizes Strait of Hormuz Opening, Refuses to Fund Unwanted War

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot emphasized the critical need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for unhindered transit, stating that Paris will not bear the costs of a conflict it deems not its own. He also announced France’s request for a UN Security Council session on Lebanon.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has underscored the paramount importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring free navigation through it. “The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is a top priority. We do not want to pay the cost of a war that is not our war,” Barrot stated.

The French Foreign Minister also revealed that Paris has formally requested a meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Lebanon. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Barrot reiterated its status as a primary objective, emphasizing the refusal to finance a conflict that France does not consider its own.

Aligning with the United States’ position, the French Foreign Minister asserted that the Strait of Hormuz lies within international waters and its passage must be guaranteed without tolls or blackmail.
