Trump Claims U.S. Deliberately Spared Iranian Army Amid Shifting Rhetoric

U.S. President Donald Trump has presented a new, contradictory stance on Iran’s military, asserting that Washington intentionally avoided targeting the Iranian army due to the dangerous repercussions of completely dismantling a nation’s armed forces. This follows a history of Trump’s pronouncements about crippling Iran’s military capabilities.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly vowed to decimate Iran’s military power, has adopted a new contradictory position, claiming that Washington deliberately refrained from targeting the Iranian army. Trump asserted that past conflicts have demonstrated the perilous consequences of completely eradicating a country’s institutions and armed forces.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump stated, “It may be surprising to many, but destroying everything in wars is a mistake, because afterwards you have a country that cannot rebuild itself for up to 40 years!” He cited the war in Iraq as an example of America’s flawed approach in past conflicts, saying, “Look at Iraq; we did very badly, that was a big mistake.”

While the United States and the Zionist regime have openly declared their objective of overthrowing the Islamic Republic since day one and have targeted Iran’s military and economic infrastructure, Trump further claimed that the United States has “left the Iranian army to some extent,” suggesting it is “somewhat moderate.” He added that Washington did not wish to destroy the entire military structure of the country.

In a stark contradiction, Trump then reiterated claims that the United States has “completely” destroyed Iran’s navy and air force. Despite Iran’s consistent declarations that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and not military applications, the U.S. President again alleged that if Washington had not targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities with B-2 bombers, Iran would have acquired nuclear weapons.

Concluding his remarks, and referencing the possibility of a ceasefire extension and a potential agreement between Tehran and Washington, Trump stated he has “no rush” to finalize a deal with Tehran, claiming, “If you are in a hurry, you do not get a good agreement.”
