US and Arab Nations Demand Confrontation of Iran’s Threats, Cite Nuclear Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a joint statement released after a meeting involving the United States and Arab nations bordering the Persian Gulf has called for confronting Iran‘s perceived threats and preventing its acquisition of nuclear weapons. The statement, citing data from Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, expressed support for the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Iran and the U.S. and highlighted the mediating roles of Pakistan and Qatar.
The anti-Iranian stance articulated in the declaration emphasizes the need to protect the progress of negotiations aimed at halting hostile actions and barring Iran from obtaining nuclear arms. The statement asserts that regional peace is contingent upon addressing Iran’s threats, including its missile and drone capabilities and its support for proxy forces. It underscored the critical importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and ensuring unrestricted maritime traffic as fundamental pillars of regional and global security.
Furthermore, the statement stipulated that any investment or trade involving Iran is conditional upon the country’s adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding and any final agreement. The signatories reaffirmed their commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, welcoming U.S.-supervised negotiations between Israel and Iran. They stressed that this process should not become entangled with other conflicts, and that sovereignty in Lebanon can only be achieved by relinquishing the military power of non-state actors. The statement also condemned attacks by Iran-affiliated groups in Iraq against Persian Gulf Cooperation Council member states, opposing any tariffs or tolls imposed in the Strait of Hormuz or any attempts to control it.
