Blinken: Arab countries do not want to get involved in the reconstruction of Gaza
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the Arab countries do not want to get involved in the reconstruction of Gaza. |
He added: both Arab countries and Washington believe that until this issue is addressed, neither Israel nor the region will have peace, stability and security.
The US foreign minister added: You must solve the Palestinian issue. The Arab countries are saying, “Look, we’re not going to go into, say, rebuilding Gaza, only to be razed to the ground again in a year or five, and then we’re going to be asked to rebuild it.”
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan also said in a speech in Davos that Riyadh can recognize Israel if a comprehensive agreement including the creation of a Palestinian state is reached. Last week, he signed a deal with Israel under which its Muslim neighbors will help rebuild Gaza after the war and continue economic integration with Tel Aviv, but only if it commits to eventually allowing an independent Palestinian state.
U.S.-brokered talks on the creation of a Palestinian state in land now occupied by the Zionist regime broke down nearly a decade ago. Right-wing politicians in the current ruling coalition of Tel Aviv are against the Palestinian state.
