Syria Reopens Embassy in Libya After 14 Years, Boosting Bilateral Ties

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syria and Libya have signed an agreement to expand bilateral cooperation and reactivate their joint high committee during a visit by Syrian Foreign Minister Assaad Al-Shaibani to Tripoli. This agreement aims to further solidify ties between the two nations.

During his visit, Al-Shaibani officially reopened the Syrian embassy in Tripoli, which had been closed for 14 years. He emphasized that the resumption of embassy operations will streamline consular services and address the needs of Syrian citizens residing in Libya, where approximately 200,000 Syrians currently live.

The Libyan Foreign Minister welcomed the reopening of the embassy as a crucial step toward normalizing relations between the two countries. He also expressed a desire to enhance economic cooperation opportunities between Syria and Libya, underscoring the potential for mutual growth.
