US Vice President Vance Claims Sole Power to Ensure Global Energy Supply, Cites Iranian Actions
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Vice President JD Vance has claimed that the United States is the only nation capable of ensuring the continuity of energy supply in global markets. Vance stated that the current increase in gasoline prices is a direct result of Iran’s actions, specifically its alleged targeting of commercial vessels. He warned that without U.S. protection of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a catastrophic global energy crisis would ensue, as no other party would undertake such a responsibility.
Vance further elaborated on U.S. policy, stating that military actions were taken against Iran to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons and to safeguard commercial shipping and avert a worldwide energy crisis. He asserted that Iran’s capabilities are diminishing daily, and that U.S. operations do not target civilians, emphasizing a consistent policy against such actions. The Vice President indicated that the U.S. is exerting pressure on Iran to cease its alleged attacks on merchant ships, acknowledging Iran’s continued attempts to disrupt shipping. Vance declared that the U.S. will not negotiate with Iran until it stops firing on vessels, attributing the absence of a global energy crisis to the protection of numerous ships.
Highlighting the alleged passage of 15 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz the previous night due to U.S. efforts, Vance claimed that all options, including economic, military, diplomatic, and covert operations, are on the table against Iran. He suggested that President Trump would utilize some of these tools against Iran. Regarding the current situation, Vance expressed his view that describing it as a “war” would not be accurate.
In his remarks, Vance also mentioned that Arab states bordering the Persian Gulf have communicated that a U.S. withdrawal from the region would be the worst possible outcome. The claims were reported by Al Jazeera, with data published by Mehr News Agency.
