America returned Ansarullah to the so-called “terrorist” list
The National Security Adviser of the White House announced in a statement that he has returned Yemen's Ansarullah movement to the list of so-called "terrorist" organizations. |
According to Fars News Agency International Group, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced in a statement that Washington has returned Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement to the list of so-called “terrorist” organizations in this country.
The statement reads: “Today, in response to continued threats and attacks by the United States, the name of Ansarullah, also known as the Houthis, is announced on the list of “global terrorists”. “
Jake Sullivan said that this action is “an important tool to prevent terrorist financial support from the Houthis and to prevent their access to financial markets and to hold them accountable for their actions.”
The National Security Adviser of the White House continued this statement and said that if Yemen’s Ansarullah stops its attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, the United States will immediately reconsider this action.
The US government included Ansarullah in the list of terrorist organizations in 2019 and during the presidency of “Donald Trump”, the former US president.
At that time, the United States also rejected the request of the United Nations to withdraw Washington from this decision. “Martin Griffiths”, the representative of the United Nations in the affairs of Yemen, in January three years ago, in a speech to the members of the Security Council, said that calling the Ansarullah movement a terrorist will cause the spread of hunger in Yemen and hinder the delivery of the United Nations. He asked America to cancel this decision.
Griffiths added: “There is a fear that describing the Houthis as a terrorist organization will have extremely dangerous effects on all sides of the conflict in Yemen.”
American President Joe Biden reversed this decision after coming to power in January 2021.” Ned Price, the spokesperson of the American State Department at that time, clarified that the goal of the Biden administration was to reduce the humanitarian consequences of the sanctions. “Terrorist” is Ansarullah.
He had claimed that America as a country does not want to do anything that will lead to the worsening of the suffering of millions of Yemeni people. He also clarified that the assessment of the legislators of both parties of the Congress, the United Nations and aid organizations is that the widespread application of terrorist sanctions will worsen the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
Jake Sullivan stated in his statement today that the inclusion of Ansarullah’s name in the list of terrorist organizations will take effect in 30 days. He claimed that the purpose of this action is to ensure that the American decision affects Ansarullah and not the Yemeni people.
When Trump blacklisted Ansarullah, many relief organizations active in Yemen asked the US government to reverse this action. Mercy Corps, Norwegian Refugee Council, Oxfam, Save the Children and International Rescue Committee are among these organizations. The list of terrorist organizations will have terrible consequences on the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
A coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been attacking the poor country of Yemen since April 2014 to restore power to “Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi”. The resigned president of Yemen targeted heavy air, ground and sea attacks. These attacks have led to the destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure and the spread of poverty, unemployment and the spread of infectious diseases in this poor Arab country.
