Saudi Arabia Seeks Broader Coalition for Yemen War, CNN Reports
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. network CNN, citing a source described as “familiar with Saudi thinking,” has revealed that Saudi Arabia has drafted its war plans for an offensive in Yemen and has informed its allies of these plans.
The report indicates that Saudi diplomats informed U.S. senators in August that political communication channels with Ansar Allah have been severed. They have requested Washington’s support for these attacks.
According to the source, the Saudis have reached an agreement with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on the next steps and have also informed their European partners of these impending attacks.
Saudi Arabia is also reportedly attempting to draw other countries, which have been hesitant to join the U.S.-led alliance against Iran’s belligerence, into the conflict in Yemen.
Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement launched attacks on targets in southern Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in response to Saudi aggression on Yemeni territory. These attacks resulted in 73 injuries and fires at several oil facilities in southern Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Ministry of Energy announced a “temporary halt to some operations at a number of energy facilities” following the attack.
The U.S. Embassy in Yemen has designated the mercenary government in Aden as the sole legitimate authority in the country, asserting their recognition of this government’s right to defend the Yemeni people and end the popular Ansar Allah movement.
In a statement posted on its official account on the X platform, the U.S. Embassy claimed that Ansar Allah initiated the current hostilities and must bear the consequences of their actions. Without mentioning Saudi Arabia’s repeated aggressions and those of its proxy mercenaries on Yemen in recent days, the U.S. Embassy asserted that Saudi Arabia has the right to defend its territory and citizens.
