Russia Warns Hungary of ‘Decisive Response’ to ‘Unfriendly’ Diplomatic Action

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s embassy in Budapest issued a statement on Wednesday, asserting that it will continue efforts to maintain constructive dialogue despite Budapest’s decision to expel Russian diplomats.
The statement from the Russian embassy in Budapest declared that Hungary is employing “ideological slogans in the style of Brussels,” indicating a trend towards losing its independence. It further stated that Budapest’s decision to expel Russian diplomats is inconsistent with the national interests of Hungary and its people.
The Russian embassy in Budapest added that any “unfriendly” action by Hungary would face a “proportionate and decisive response.”
This development follows previous statements from Russia’s Foreign Ministry, which announced that Moscow’s response to such actions would be “harsh and painful.” Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, told the state-run TASS news agency that the response to “Russophobic lobbying in Budapest will be harsh and painful.”
The expulsion comes after a Russian diplomat was removed from Hungary in May over alleged espionage activities. Additionally, in May, Hungary’s Foreign Minister summoned the Russian ambassador following Russian drone attacks on the Zakarpattia region in western Ukraine, an area with a significant ethnic Hungarian population.
