India Warns U.S. Over Sanctions Bill Targeting Russian Oil Purchases

India’s Ministry of External Affairs announced on Thursday that the nation “remains strongly committed to ensuring energy security for its population of 1.4 billion people.”

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs, in reference to the bill’s passage, stated that New Delhi has raised this issue with various U.S. officials in recent months, explicitly communicating the potential repercussions for bilateral ties and the global energy market. The Indian side has also clearly conveyed its determination to take all necessary steps to safeguard its commercial and economic interests.
