Netanyahu Lands in Remote New York Military Airport Amid Security Concerns
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s plane landed at a remote military airport in New York during his trip to the United States, a move necessitated by security concerns. This development was revealed by Channel 12 of the Israeli television network.
Netanyahu’s office announced that the Israeli Prime Minister is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York at 9:00 PM Palestine time. During his visit, Netanyahu is expected to hold meetings with the presidents of Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Panama, and Ethiopia, as well as the Vice President of Colombia. Additionally, he is slated to meet and confer with the prime ministers of Greece, Slovenia, and Papua New Guinea.
The report comes in the wake of clashes that occurred on Wednesday between supporters of the Israeli regime and anti-Zionist protesters near the UN headquarters in New York. Hundreds of Jewish protesters gathered ahead of Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly, with New York police deployed to maintain order between the groups.
Supporters of the Israeli regime held placards with slogans such as “End global anti-Semitism now” and “Stop anti-Semitism.” Conversely, Orthodox Jewish and anti-Zionist demonstrators stood behind barriers, displaying posters of Benjamin Netanyahu with the caption “Wanted for crimes against humanity,” alongside other signs opposing Zionism.
In this context, Jesse Weinberg, a researcher specializing in U.S.-Middle East relations at the Institute for National Security Studies, commented to The Washington Post. He stated, “The fact that this trip is a mere one day and that Trump will not meet with him confirms the dire situation that Israel and its leaders find themselves in at this moment.” He added, “Israel sees itself in a precarious position.” The Washington Post noted that this isolation is not surprising, recalling that the UN General Assembly last year witnessed over 100 diplomats from more than 50 countries walk out of the hall in a strong and unusual protest following Netanyahu’s arrival.
