Drone Attack Sparks Fire at Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia

A large-scale drone attack has resulted in a fire at an oil refinery in Russia’s Ryazan region, according to local authorities and the Russian Ministry of Defense. The incident follows recent threats from former President Trump regarding intelligence support to Kyiv.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Ryazan oil refinery has been engulfed in flames following a wide-ranging drone assault. Pavel Malkov, the governor of the Ryazan region, announced on Thursday that the refinery’s premises caught fire due to the extensive drone attack.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported Kyiv’s attempt to launch a broad assault against the Ryazan oil refinery. The ministry stated that Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed four long-range Flamingo cruise missiles and 69 drones while repelling the Ukrainian attacks.

According to the ministry’s statement, the debris from the downed drones led to a fire on the grounds of the Ryazan oil refinery.

Earlier, Donald Trump had threatened to cut off intelligence assistance to Kyiv if Ukraine continued its attacks on Russian energy facilities. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing dissatisfaction with Donald Trump’s stance on the war in his country, stated that Kyiv would resume attacks on Russian oil refineries. This decision comes despite Trump’s declaration of an energy ceasefire, following continued Moscow attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Zelensky added, “We will not stop attacks on the energy sector unless we receive more Patriot missiles in return.”
