Ukraine Resumes Attacks on Russian Energy Facilities, Moscow Reports

Kyiv has recommenced drone assaults on Russian oil processing facilities and a gas chemical complex, according to Russian officials, marking a continuation of strikes previously halted. Moscow asserts that while limited damage occurred at one refinery, overall air defense systems proved effective.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Senior Official Alexander Novak stated that Kyiv has relaunched its series of attacks on the country’s oil processing centers after a temporary pause. This latest offensive targeted three oil refineries and one gas chemical complex. Novak explained that following a period of cessation, the assaults have resumed, and relevant facilities are implementing protective measures.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia reported that following today’s events, orchestrated by the Ukrainian army, limited damage was sustained by one of the refineries. However, he emphasized that the nation’s air defense and overall defensive structure demonstrated effective protection of the targeted sites.

Ukraine has expanded its drone attacks on Russian refineries and energy infrastructure since 2024 as a strategic component of its conflict with Moscow. These attacks continued into 2026, with Russian officials indicating that they caused damage to some refinery facilities and disrupted fuel production and supply. In October 2025, Donald Trump had called for a halt to Ukraine’s attacks on Russian refineries.

In previous periods, these assaults on Russia’s oil and refinery arteries had previously fueled anger and escalated disagreements between leaders of the United States and Ukraine.
