Hezbollah Criticizes Lebanon Explosives Indictment as Politically Motivated

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hezbollah Member of Parliament Hussein Al-Haj Hassan has voiced strong criticism of the indictment issued in the case of a seized shipment of explosives within Lebanon, describing it as unfair and swayed by political pressures.
Al-Haj Hassan stated that the prepared indictment conflicts with legal principles and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognizes the right to resist occupation. He asserted that the indictment’s provisions were drafted under specific political agendas, rendering it an unfair and legally unsound decision.
These remarks followed the Lebanese judiciary’s decision to indict 13 individuals in connection with the discovery of a large quantity of explosives. According to the Associated Press, the shipment was estimated to weigh approximately 780 kilograms and was confiscated during a inspection of a truck at a checkpoint on the Beirut to Bekaa Valley road.
Two individuals were arrested in connection with the case, while 11 others, including five using aliases, are being prosecuted in absentia. The charges encompass endangering the country’s internal security, illegal possession of weapons and explosives, and establishing unauthorized organizations aimed at undermining the Lebanese government’s sovereignty.
Hezbollah has confirmed that the explosives shipment belonged to the movement, stating that the materials were intended for confronting occupation forces. The group has demanded the return of the shipment and the release of those detained.
The proceedings regarding the explosives case are unfolding in Lebanon amid the current government’s pursuit of disarming the resistance, reportedly at the behest of the United States and the Israeli regime.
