Russian Lawmaker Slams Macron Over Unrest and Failure to Control Paris Protests

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Alexey Pushkov, a member of the Constitutional Committee of the Russian Federation Council, took to his personal Telegram channel to highlight the persistent turmoil in the French capital, noting that Molotov cocktails continue to explode across the city.
Sharing an image depicting an assault on a law enforcement office in a district of Paris, the prominent Russian political figure asserted that despite all his commitments to adopting a decisive approach, Emmanuel Macron has thus far failed to restore public order.
The Russian senator further questioned whether the French president’s inability to contain the crisis is simply a result of managerial weakness or if there is a deliberate incentive behind allowing the violent protests to persist.
The current wave of protests in France began in mid-September 2026, centered around students’ demands regarding school conditions and a shortage of educational resources. It subsequently expanded as various groups joined to protest soaring living costs and deteriorating public services. During nationwide demonstrations on October 17, approximately 550,000 people participated, according to figures released by the French Interior Ministry. Furthermore, in the October 31 march, official authorities estimated the turnout at around 320,000, while organizers placed the figure at 500,000. Although the majority of the marches remained peaceful, clashes between protesters and security forces erupted in several areas, including Paris.
