US Embassy in Riyadh Issues Air Travel Restrictions Following Yemeni Strikes on Saudi Airports

The United States Embassy in Riyadh has mandated special travel permits for government personnel using Saudi airports, citing escalating security risks from Yemeni armed forces’ strikes on regional aviation facilities.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, …the United States Embassy in Riyadh issued a fresh security advisory stating that U.S. government personnel within the country are required to obtain explicit authorization from the chief of mission before utilizing any Saudi airports.

This security directive comes in the wake of targeted operations by Yemeni armed forces against Saudi air terminals, particularly in Riyadh and Dammam, unfolding in response to ongoing military actions affecting civilian areas in Yemen.

The diplomatic mission has urged American citizens to remain vigilant regarding potential attacks on Saudi airports, possible airspace closures, and widespread flight cancellations, warning that the security situation could deteriorate rapidly.

Previously, the embassy announced on October 23 that the U.S. State Department had ordered certain non-emergency government personnel and eligible family members to depart Saudi Arabia due to heightened threat levels.
