Taiwan’s plan to protect its airports from possible attacks by Chinese fighters
Taiwan's defense ministry plans to widen its airports to protect them from China's air and missile strikes. |
According to the report of the international group of Fars news agency, an official of the Ministry of Defense of Taiwan said on Monday that in order to survive the air and missile attacks of China, the runways of the 7 military airports of this country will be extended.
According to the website “Taipei Times” This source said that ministry officials and American advisers decided to increase the runways of airports to 60 meters after reviewing military data.
Taiwan’s tension with China continues, and Chinese fighters and ships patrol around the Golan Islands every day.
Military analysts believe that the purpose of China’s military exercises is to break Taiwan’s morale, tire pilots and army personnel of this island, and wear out their equipment.
This Taiwanese official added that widening the runways of the airport will allow fighters to take off and land earlier and will even be used for B-52 bombers and large transport planes.
Military experts believe that despite equipping Taiwan with defense and missile defense systems, the island’s air force is not capable of standing against the Chinese air force.
Taiwan Air Force has about 70,000 troops and more than 400 combat aircraft. These include 18 F-5 fighters, 60 fighter planes “Mirage-2000” is made in France and has more than 100 indigenous fighters, however, Taiwan’s Air Force is hardly able to compete with its Chinese counterpart. The Air Force of China has a fleet of 1,700 combat aircraft.
According to this Taiwanese official, in the Chinese war scenario, Taiwan’s air bases will be targeted.
This informed source said: “If the runways of the airport are hit by missiles or other weapons during the war, the take-off and landing operations may be paralyzed, so we must be ready.”
