According to the international group Tasnim news agency, Irakli Garibashvili announced in his press conference on Monday who has resigned from his position.
He pointed out that he assumed the post of prime minister for the second time three years ago, and said: I have taken effective measures during this period.
The former prime minister of Georgia stated that he respects the ruling party “Georgian Dream” and the democratic principles of the government, and said: Accordingly, the rotation of power within the party should be respected and others should be given a chance by resigning.
Garibashvili, referring to his 5-year presence in power in two terms, said: I served my country with good intentions. I followed the interests of my country and people without falling short. During this period, I feel proud of the results obtained with my colleagues. The political council of the party offered me the presidency and I will assume this position on February 1st at the party congress. We also bring the party for the fall elections.
