According to the report of Fars news agency’s foreign policy group, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani condemned today (Thursday), the 12th of Bahan, the US threats to resume sanctions against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
On Tuesday, the 10th of February, the United States announced that it plans to withdraw from its previous decision and resume the implementation of economic sanctions against Venezuela, including oil sanctions.
In a statement, the US State Department stated that the reason for this decision was the action of the Venezuelan Supreme Court in disqualifying one of the country’s pro-Western opponents from running for president.
The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called resorting to such measures as direct interference in the internal affairs of countries and a violation of the United Nations Charter and said that its continuation depends on the will and cooperation of independent countries for Resistance against such interventionist policies will increase.
Kanaani emphasized: America’s use of sanctions as a weapon against other countries is contrary to the rights of governments and nations, human rights and standards. It is international law.
The government of “Joe Biden”, the current president of the United States, removed most of the economic sanctions against Venezuela about three months ago. The United States has warned the government of Nicolás Maduro that it will return other sanctions if it does not lift the bans on opposition candidates.
