Harris in a meeting with Zelensky: We will support Ukraine as long as the war lasts
In a meeting with the President of Ukraine, the US Vice President said that Washington is ready to support the country in the war with Russia "as long as the war lasts". |
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said in a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference: “President (Biden) and I will continue our work to provide you with the resources and weapons you need.” . We will be with you as long as [the war] lasts”.
According to Reuters, Harris called for Ukraine to pay damages and said: “We will try to make sure [after the war] that Russia pays Ukraine damages.”
Harris’s statements are made while the Ukrainian forces had to withdraw from the key city of “Odyivka” in the early hours of today (Saturday) due to lack of ammunition. The decision set the stage for Russia’s biggest advance since May last year. Russia managed to capture the city of “Bakhmut” last year in this month.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian soldiers have repeatedly complained about the lack of ammunition and old military equipment that the West sends them.
Meanwhile, the US foreign aid bill, which includes military aid to Ukraine, despite being passed in the Senate, has been opposed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives says that he has no “immediate plans” to pass this plan.
