South Korea and the United States held an air exercise
Seoul and Washington have held an air drill aimed at what they say is a boost to deterrence against North Korean threats. |
Yonhap news agency quoted the South Korean Air Force as reporting that South Korea and the United States held joint air exercises this Friday and flew F-35A fighters during the exercise.
In this exercise over South Korea, “new generation stealth fighters” from both countries participated along with KF-16, F-15K and other South Korean aircraft. The drills were held to contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen joint operational capabilities and “enhance deterrence against North Korean threats.”
The exercise helped train pilots in anti-aircraft defense maneuvers, which focused mainly on intercepting cruise missiles.
Previously, Seoul and Washington held their first cyber exercise called “Union Cyber Exercise” for 5 days at South Korea’s cyber command training ground. This joint exercise, which was the first of its kind, was held in line with the agreement reached at the fifty-fourth security consultative meeting between the two countries in November 2022.
