All political currents agree on the withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq

The National Security Adviser of Iraq emphasized that the political currents of this country are unanimous about ending the presence of foreign soldiers.

Qassem al-Aarji said in an interview on the sidelines of the 6th Baghdad International Conference: There is a consensus about the withdrawal of foreign forces, and the Baghdad government, in response to the assistance of the countries of the international coalition forces in the war against the ISIS terrorist organization, the two security agreements One side will sign with these countries.

According to the Iraqi media, Al-Aarji also said: If the international coalition forces leave Iraq, the relations with the countries of these forces will not be severed.

Iraq’s national security adviser stated: Iraq has signed 20 security memorandums of understanding with several countries in 2022 and 2023 with the aim of cooperation and exchange of experiences.

Pointing out that Iraqi security and military forces have made great progress and gained extensive experience in dealing with terrorist challenges, Al-Araji said: The Baghdad government is waiting for the results of the assessment of the situation in Iraq and the situation of the international coalition by the joint military committee. It is between Iraq and America, which is an internal issue and it was created based on the needs of Iraq. But there is a consensus about the necessity of Iraq being free of foreign military forces.

Al-Araji noted: The forces of the international coalition are not a substitute for the Iraqi military and security forces. Rather, they came to Iraq under special and specific conditions, and today, the need for them has been eliminated, and the Baghdad government is responsible for deciding on ending the presence of coalition forces in the country.
