The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights warned about the spread of the Gaza war to the Middle East region and beyond. |
reported by Mehr News Agency, citing AFP, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights warned about the consequences of continuing the war in Gaza.
Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, announced on Monday at the Human Rights Council in Geneva: The war in Gaza may lead to a much wider conflict. I am deeply concerned that any spark in this gunpowder barrel could start a much bigger fire.
Turk added that the consequences of the Gaza war can affect all countries in the Middle East and other countries outside this region.
Turk recently wrote on his X (Twitter) account: About 85 percent of the people of Gaza have been internally displaced due to the war and have the right to return to their homes. According to international humanitarian laws, the forced transfer of protected persons inside or from the occupied territories is prohibited.
This UN commissioner also called the statements of the Tel Aviv authorities about the “forced migration” of Gaza residents as “provocative and irresponsible”.
