Approval of the bill to legalize artificial intelligence in the European Parliament
The European Parliament passed a bill that imposes some restrictions on services that provide artificial intelligence. |
The legalization of artificial intelligence was approved in the European Parliament with 523 votes in favor, 46 votes against and 49 abstentions. According to the new rules, public artificial intelligence systems must be transparent, and audio or video content must be labeled if it is artificial or manipulated.
According to Anatolia news agency, in addition, in order to protect privacy, the use of artificial intelligence to detect people’s emotions in the workplace and school is prohibited.
Previously, experts said that artificial intelligence systems can recognize and announce human states such as happiness, anger, sadness, and surprise by identifying ongoing changes in a person’s face.
This law also imposes restrictions for the first time on generative artificial intelligence tools such as GBT chat.
The European Parliament announced in a statement that the purpose of approving these regulations was to protect fundamental rights and the rule of law against “dangerous artificial intelligence”.
In the past, experts had expressed their concerns regarding the increase in the use of artificial intelligence and the possibility of spreading fake news due to the proximity of several important elections in the coming year.
