Indian farmers continue to protest against the non-determination of the price floor

Thousands of Indian farmers protested in New Delhi today (Thursday) in continuation of their protests against the country's government.

report Mehr News Agency, citing the Associated Press, following the massive protests of Indian farmers against the government’s failure to set a minimum price for products, hundreds of farmers once again protested today in the streets of the Indian capital.

Indian police have also allowed farmers to protest on the condition that they do not use heavy agricultural machinery to enter the city. In addition, it is forbidden to carry sticks and cold weapons to avoid conflicts with the police.

Protesters carrying placards demanded free electricity for agricultural purposes. Also, the main issue is determining the price floor for their products. They believe that not setting a price floor, the markets will keep them in their hands and this issue will lead to disaster, especially for more than two-thirds of them who have less than one hectare of land.

The police have also announced that the demonstration is allowed on the condition that no more than 5 thousand people participate in it.

The protesting farmers have also asked the government to implement its promise to forgive loans and declare the legal cases opened against them in the 2021 protests closed. The livelihood of more than 60% of India’s 1.4 billion people depends on agriculture.
