Algeria: The American draft resolution allows the killing of civilians

Algeria's representative in the Security Council, after not voting on the American draft resolution, emphasized that this proposal was only a permission to kill more Palestinians.

Algeria believes that the US draft resolution on the status of the Gaza Strip, which was voted against on Friday, did not carry a clear message of peace and allowed the killing of more Palestinian civilians.

According to al-Quds al-Arabi report, Algerian representative in the Security Council, Ammar bin Jame, said after the removal of the US draft resolution following Russia and China’s use of the veto, the text presented for today’s (Friday) vote does not contain a clear message of peace. And it allows the killing of more Palestinian civilians and does not provide the necessary guarantees to prevent violence.

He added that the project proposed by Washington contains permission to continue the bloodshed. The draft resolution did not include a request or a clear request from the Zionist regime to cease fire in Gaza.

The draft resolution was supported by 11 of the 15 members of the council, while three countries China, Russia and Algeria rejected it and Guyana abstained from voting.

The Algerian representative explained the justifications for his country’s negative vote on the American draft resolution, explaining that the Arab group in the United Nations has always prioritized three main elements in confronting the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, which include an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted access It is an obstacle to humanitarian aid and rejection of the forced migration of the people of Gaza.

Ben Jame added: The American draft resolution that was presented to the members of the Security Council for voting does not meet these expectations.

He noted that the main goal of his country is to end the massacre that Gaza has been suffering for more than five months. In this regard, the representative of Algeria expressed his deep concern about the possible military attack of the Zionist regime in the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip and warned of its devastating consequences.

He believes that the Security Council failed to explicitly reject this attack.
