South Korea will launch its second spy satellite on April 8
South Korea's Ministry of Defense announced that it will launch its second spy satellite on April 8 from a center in the United States. |
South Korea’s Defense Ministry said Friday it will boost its surveillance capabilities with the launch of its second military spy satellite from the US John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 8.
The initiative, which will be carried out on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, is part of South Korea’s plan to deploy five spy satellites by 2025 to improve surveillance of North Korea through space platforms.
This upcoming launch follows the successful deployment of South Korea’s first satellite, which already provides high-resolution images of key locations in North Korea, including central Pyongyang. This satellite, which has advanced electro-optical and infrared sensors, is scheduled to enter the full operational phase in June.
