French authorities announced that French security forces arrested the mayor and his two brothers in one of the eastern cities of the country after discovering 70 kilograms of hashish from his house.
According to the report of the AFP, public prosecutor Hugo de Ville revealed that Jamila Al-Habsawi, the mayor of Olon since 2021, after security forces raided her home and workplace as part of an investigation into a drug-trafficking operation a few weeks ago. Narcotics were arrested in this small urban area with a population of six thousand people.
The public prosecutor explained that investigators searched Al-Habsawi’s house, the municipal building and the pharmacy where he works as a pharmacist, but he did not specify the amount of drugs they found in his house.
However, a source familiar with the progress of the investigation confirmed that security forces seized at least 70 kilograms of hashish from al-Habsawi’s house. According to the public prosecutor, a total of seven people, including al-Habsawi and his two brothers, were arrested in this case.
